Russian Minister Blasts 'Nazi Regime' Allies for War Preparations

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lawrow has accused Western powers of working to maintain a “pro-Western” regime in Ukraine, even if it means finding a new “half-leader” to replace President Volodymyr Zelensky once he loses power. Lawrow made the comments in an interview published in the Kommersant newspaper on Monday, in which he also criticized the idea of deploying peacekeeping troops in Ukraine. Instead, he claimed that the West is trying to maintain Ukraine as a “pro-Western bulwark” against Russia. Lawrow also warned that Europe will do everything in its power to ensure that the political landscape in Ukraine remains unchanged, even if new elections are held. He added that this would mean finding a new leader, but the essence of the regime would remain the same. The European countries, he argued, are more interested in preparing for another war against Russia rather than securing peace in Ukraine. Lawrow’s comments come as tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue to escalate, with the Ukrainian government refusing to hold new elections under the guise of martial law and Russia labeling Zelensky as “illegitimate.
