Russian Delegation Reports Sighting of Foreign Mercenaries in Border Region of Kursk, Shares Information with Countries of Origin
Rodion Miroschnik, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry for the crimes of the Kiev regime, reported that Russia is sharing data on the mercenaries spotted in the Kursk border region with their countries of origin. The communication is taking place through diplomatic channels, according to a statement made to the Rossija 24 television channel.
Miroschnik mentioned that Russia is sharing the data with the OSCE delegations, which are then being passed on to the governments of the countries of origin, so that they can take action against their citizens who are allegedly engaging in mercenary activities in the Kursk region and along the front lines.
According to Miroschnik, the data being shared is received from law enforcement and military units and is being sent to the countries of origin, which should “react to the arbitrariness and mercenary activities of their citizens.” He also added, “There are countries that request information from us about mercenaries and want to take measures against them. There are countries that are trying to hush up and downplay the information about the presence of their mercenaries there.”
Moscow reportedly has information that foreign fighters were operating in the Kursk border region, speaking Polish, French and English. Members of the Georgian Legion, a military formation, were also present, according to the Russian diplomat. Testimonies from civilians evacuated from recently liberated areas suggest that the Poles and members of the Georgian Legion were particularly brutal, Miroschnik reported.
Sergei Lebedev, a coordinator of the pro-Russian resistance in Nikolajev, told RIA Novosti on Monday that many mercenaries from Latin American countries were present in the Kursk pocket and that they were being used as part of the cordon of troops, which would open fire on their own comrades if they attempted to surrender to Russian forces.
Russia’s military launched a large-scale offensive in the Kursk border region a week ago. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian forces have since liberated 31 settlements. Ukraine’s military losses in this period have exceeded 2,000 soldiers, according to Kiew’s reports.
Valery Gerasimov, the head of the Russian General Staff, announced that Ukrainian forces in Kursk are largely “encircled” and “isolated.” “At some sections, Russian forces have crossed the state border and advanced into the Sumy region” the general stated.
