Dortmund and Lille Share Spoils in Champions League Tie
Borussia Dortmund played out a 1-1 draw with OSC Lille in the first leg of the Champions League’s eighth round.
The German team dominated the first half, allowing little in defense. Dortmund’s team, led by coach Niko Kovac, took the lead in the 22nd minute through a Karim Adeyemi’s dream goal.
After the break, Lille increased the pressure. In the 68th minute, Hakon Haraldsson equalized, finishing a Jonathan David pass with a precise shot into the far corner of the net. Dortmund had little attacking threat in the second half and had to settle for the draw.
The return match in France on March 12 will now decide the team’s qualification for the quarterfinals, where Dortmund could face FC Barcelona or Benfica Lisbon.
