BRAZIL'S 'FOREVER HERE' SHOCKS HOLLYWOOD, TAKES HOME FOREIGN OSCAR!

The Brazilian drama “Forever Here” has won the award for Best International Film at the 97th Academy Awards in Los Angeles. The film, directed by Walter Salles, with Fernanda Torres in the lead role, emerged victorious against “Emilia Perez” among others. Both films were also nominated for the Best Film award, making them the favorites. The German submission “The Seed of the Holy Fig Tree” and the films “Flow” from Latvia and “The Girl with the Needle” from Denmark failed to win any awards. However, the Latvian Oscar submission did win in the category of Best Animated Film.

Prior to the foreign-language Oscar, numerous awards were already presented in various categories. Notably, Kieran Culkin won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in “A Real Pain”, while Zoe Saldana, star of “Emilia Perez”, won in the female category. In the screenplay categories, “Anora” (original screenplay) and “Konklave” (adapted screenplay) emerged victorious.
