The annual digital conference, Republica, kicked off its run on Monday in Berlin. This year’s discussions center on network culture, digital policy, and social media, with a particular emphasis placed on the concept of community solidarity.
Under the banner of “Never gonna give you up” the conference aims to present a counter-model for an era increasingly defined by algorithms shaping public opinion, platforms exercising political power, attention acting as the primary currency, and Artificial Intelligence altering our perception of reality. Organizers emphasize that the core call is to uphold the ideals of a cohesive community, rather than allowing people to be pitted against one another.
The event continues through Wednesday and is widely regarded as a meeting point for the “Digital Bohème”. Attendees are expected to include notable figures from the technology field, as well as representatives from government and industry. Republica was first held in 2007 and has since become an annual fixture in Berlin.
