JP Morgan Manager Sees Merger and IPO Boom Despite Geopolitical Risks

Despite ongoing challenges globally, including the instability surrounding the Iran conflict, oil price risks, and increasing general uncertainty, JP Morgan manager Dorothee Blessing is currently observing a boom in the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market.

Blessing, who was recently promoted to Co-Head of the investment bank at JP Morgan Chase, is now the most influential German professional at a major US financial institution. She noted seeing “massive dynamism across national borders”.

Providing data to the “Handelsblatt”, she revealed that the worldwide M&A volume stands at $1.9 trillion, marking an increase of nearly 30 percent compared to the previous year. She added that this level makes it the second-highest value recorded in the last decade, finding the trend “truly remarkable” and expects it to remain strong in the near future.

While the manager expressed optimism regarding Europe, she offered a strong caution, warning that the economic consequences of high oil prices for the continent should not be underestimated.
