A daily poll conducted by the research institute Insa for “Bild am Sonntag” indicates another gain for the AfD, which reached 29%-the highest figure ever recorded in the “Sunday Trend”. Meanwhile, the Union continues to decline, falling to only 22%, a one-point drop. This marks the lowest standing for the CDU/CSU in over four years. As a result, the gap between the AfD and the Union has widened to seven percentage points, establishing a new record difference.
The AfD has significantly increased its support since the Federal Election on February 23, 2025 (when they polled at 20.8%), gaining a strong eight percentage points and almost completely reversing the previous margin of 7.7 points. Support for the SPD also dropped by a point, settling at 12%. Taken together, the center-right and center block (Schwarz-Rot) now account for only 34% of voters. Compared to the 2025 federal election, the Union and SPD have collectively lost nearly one quarter of the electorate.
In contrast, the Greens saw a slight uptick, rising to 14%; this represents their best showing in two and a half years. Die Linke lost one point, finishing at 10%. The FDP and BSW remained stagnant at 3% each, figures that would preclude them from representation in the Bundestag.
