Americans paid their respects to the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the worst attacks in US history, which deeply shocked the country and the world.

A large number of people, gathered in New York near the impressive memorial museum in Manhattan, observed two minutes of silence for the victims of the attack on the World Trade Center towers.

Among those gathered was the vice president, Kamala Harris, who heard a very long list of the names of the victims.

President Joe Biden attended a ceremony at the Pentagon, which was the target of an attack. Exactly 2,977 people were killed in the Al Qaeda terrorist attack in New York and Washington.

Two planes crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York, a third hit the Pentagon, and a fourth, which appeared to be aimed at the Capitol or the White House, crashed in a wooded area in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. , as the passengers fought back.

None of the four aircraft survived. 10 years later, in May 2011, US forces killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Pakistan in an operation approved by then-President Barack Obama.
