France is facing wildfires as a result of the heat.
More than 1,000 firefighters have been mobilized to try to put out the flames in the Gironde region of France, where it is believed that around 7,000 hectares of land have been destroyed.
As it is known, the French president, Emmanuel Macron, visited on Friday a crisis center where the situation in Paris is being monitored.
He said this was an “extremely harsh season”, adding that they had “already lost three times more forest areas than in 2020”.
In the southern Bouche-du-Rhone region, firefighters battling other fires said after several days of work they believed they had the situation under control. But the region remains on high alert.
Several cities in both regions have canceled Bastille Day fireworks on Wednesday for fear of new fires.
Authorities are discussing a total fire ban. It comes as France is in the midst of a severe drought with water restrictions in some regions and facing its second heatwave this summer.
It is reported that more than 10,000 people have been forced to leave the southwestern Gironde region in recent days.
