They made a mistake not allowing us to join NATO.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Sunday that it was a “strategic mistake” by Germany and France not to allow Ukraine to join NATO in 2008.
“If we were a NATO member, this war would not happen,” Kuleba said in an interview Sunday.
“The strategic mistake made in 2008 by Germany and France, which rejected the efforts of the United States and other allies to bring Ukraine in, is something we are paying for,” Kuleba said.
“It is not Germany or France that are paying the price for this mistake, it is Ukraine,” he added.
Otherwise, Ukraine has already agreed not to apply for membership in the largest military alliance in the world on the condition that Russia stops the aggression.
