The US is donating “suicide” drones to Ukraine.
The United States has sent 100 drones to the Ukrainian army, and “they will soon enter Ukraine,” said a Defense Department official.
“We are in discussions with the Ukrainians about the future use of key drones and we will certainly keep this option open in the future,” said Pentagon spokesman John Kirby.
Small, mobile drones, so-called kamikazes, carry warheads and explode at the moment of collision. The smallest model can hit a target up to ten miles away, according to a company that makes drones.
Kirby also said that the US had trained “a very small number of Ukrainian soldiers who were already in the United States and before returning to Ukraine to train others.”
He also said the US would “look at other suitable options if needed to provide more drone training if needed”.
Otherwise, Zelensky has repeatedly demanded more armaments and recently the Czech Republic has sent several tanks to Ukraine.
