Train attacked on the way to evacuate refugees.
A passenger train on its way to pick up refugees being evacuated from eastern Ukraine came under fire from Russian forces, killing a conductor, says Ukraine’s national railway company.
According to foreign media, the conductor was killed and another employee was taken to hospital with injuries when the train was attacked near the Brusyn station in the Donetsk region, the statement said.
The train was ready to pick up residents who were being evacuated from Donetsk and Luhansk regions to Lyman station, including 100 children.
The company says it is “making every effort” to evacuate all passengers and train crew, as well as those evacuated to the station.
