The CDU’s election program for the federal election on February 23 stands for a restart in Germany, according to the parliamentary business manager Thorsten Frei (CDU). Frei told the “Rheinische Post”: “The Union is entering the election campaign with a clear compass and strong profile.”
Frei had worked on the draft, which became known, together with CDU General Secretary Carsten Linnemann. The parliamentary business manager said further: “Our election program stands for a restart in economic policy, for lower taxes, more performance justice, and competitive energy and electricity prices, for more security and for secure borders.”
The Union wants to bring Germany forward with its draft. “For that, we need a genuine political change as soon as possible” said Frei.
The program will be officially presented on the following Tuesday after a joint meeting of the boards of CDU and CSU by the two party leaders Friedrich Merz and Markus Söder in Berlin.
