Russian naval operations in the Black Sea appear to be making little progress. According to the British military intelligence daily briefing on Wednesday, Ukraine is still managing to confine Russian sea operations to the eastern part of the Black Sea.
The Russian Navy’s frequent exercises to counter unmanned underwater and aerial vehicles in and around Novorossiysk, as reported by the Britons, indicate that it is aware of the threat of an attack from Ukraine. Ukraine is further undermining the credibility of the Russian Black Sea Fleet by attempting to attack marine infrastructure and ships in the Black Sea.
In a massive rocket attack at the end of November on critical national infrastructure in some Ukrainian regions, numerous rockets were launched from Russian Black Sea Fleet ships. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, 28 cruise missiles were intercepted. The air defense system is said to have made it possible to shoot down a significant part of the rockets.
