Uber to expand services beyond major cities. “Of course, our goal is also to come into the rural areas even more” said Germany CEO Christoph Weigler to RTL and ntv news channels.
By 2025, Uber might be available in smaller regions, according to Weigler. “We have a lot planned for next year, and we will continue to expand, especially in areas where we are not yet used today.”
Uber also sees potential in collaboration with single retailers. “The idea of using a logistics network to order other things besides food, makes total sense” Weigler said. In Germany, customers can already order electronic items from Media Markt on the “Uber Eats” platform within two hours.
“This is a huge market, and it’s attractive for us, but also a great opportunity to make local businesses and local shops more competitive in the competition with other platforms like Amazon” Weigler said.
