During a surprise visit by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock to Ukraine, she promised to provide Ukraine with more weapons and help it join the European Union.
Annalena Baerbock arrived today in the bombed city of Kharkiv in the east of Ukraine, where she met with her Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba.
“This city is a symbol of the absolute insanity of the Russian war in Ukraine and the endless suffering that people, especially those in the east, face every day,” Baerbock said.
Germany last week promised to send Marder combat vehicles to Ukraine, to further strengthen the army of this country.
Although Baerbock promised today that more weapons will be sent, she did not specify which weapons.
He also said that it is important not to forget Ukraine’s place in Europe, and its desire to join the EU.
“We as a government want to make very concrete offers to Ukraine in order to achieve progress in strengthening the rule of law, independent institutions and the fight against corruption,” added the head of German diplomacy.
