Ukrainian troops are due to begin training on the use of the Patriot missile system in the US next week.
The training program will be held at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and is expected to last several months, a senior American official said.
Laura Cooper, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine and EuroAsia, has said that I cannot give a concrete date for the end of this training.
During Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the US capital, US President Joe Biden announced new military aid to Kiev worth $1.8 billion, including the Patriot missile system.
Zelensky stressed that this would significantly strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses, and would prevent Russia from bombing the country’s critical infrastructure.
