Political parties in Germany are set to receive significantly larger state subsidies this year. According to a statement cited by “Bild” from Bundestag President Julia Klöckner (CDU), the state subsidies will increase by 3.1 percent-an amount of seven million euros-bringing the total funding to 232.37 million euros.
The statement explains that this financial boost reflects the trends in party-specific spending recorded by the Federal Statistical Office in the previous year.
In addition to the overall funding increase, the subsidies awarded per individual vote will also be raised. Parties will now receive €1.24 for the first four million votes, compared to the previous rate of €1.21. For every subsequent vote after the first four million, the subsidy will be €1.02, up from the previous amount of 99 cents.
