During the weekend, the Ukraine launched a massive drone attack against Russia. Russian authorities reported on Sunday that the air defense systems intercepted approximately 600 Ukrainian drones. These attacks targeted 14 Russian regions, including the Crimean Peninsula.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy defended the operation as “completely justified” asserting that it was a direct response to Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine. He noted that the Russian capital region was particularly affected by the strikes, telling the Russians clearly, “Your state must end this war”. Russian sources reported that four people were killed during the attacks.
This incident follows a major escalation last week, when Russia launched a wave of attacks targeting Ukraine, reportedly utilizing over 1,500 drones within two days. Meanwhile, negotiations mediated by the United States aimed at ending the conflict have recently stalled. Furthermore, a temporary three-day ceasefire, held to commemorate the anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, has not been extended.
