Michael Nikolaides Appointed New Chief Strategy Officer at BMW

Michael Nikolaides is set to take over the role of head of corporate strategy at BMW, according to reporting by the “Handelsblatt” citing corporate circles. In his new capacity, he will report directly to Milan Nedeljkovic, who assumes leadership of the Dax Group starting on Thursday. Nikolaides is reportedly considered a long-time confidant of the incoming CEO; both leaders share a deep background in BMW’s production department.

Over the past four years, Nikolaides has been responsible for managing the corporation’s production network and logistics. During this time, he successfully partnered with Nedeljkovic to advance the digitalization of the entire production framework, notably presenting humanoid robots intended for use at the Leipzig plant.

Even in his prior function, strategic planning remained central to his duties. Nikolaides was required to constantly factor in geopolitical risks and potential supply chain bottlenecks, alongside operational issues like plant utilization and model distribution within the diverse production network. Furthermore, his role demanded extensive cross-functional collaboration with other crucial departments, including procurement and sales.
