German Dads Get Delaying Parenthood Average Age Hits Thirty-Fourpoint-Seven

Statisticians also observed that while fathers were, on average, 2.9 years older than mothers at the time of birth, both genders are having children later in life than in 1991. Mothers, whose average age was 27.9 years back then, reached an average of 31.8 years when giving birth in 2024-a difference of 3.9 years.

The figures also provide details on the increasing age for subsequent children. For the first child, fathers averaged 33.3 years; this rose to 35.4 years for the second child and 36.6 years for the third. Similarly, mothers were 30.4 years old at the birth of their first child, progressing to an average of 32.5 years for the second and 33.5 years for the third.
