Bank Hostage Crisis in Sinzig Police Underway Since Morning

According to preliminary reports, a hostage crisis occurred at a bank branch located in the city center of Sinzig in Rhineland-Palatinate on Friday. The Koblenz Police Department confirmed that the operation has been ongoing since 9:00 AM. Special forces are currently on their way, and helicopters are visible patrolling over the city.

The incident began earlier in the morning when a cash transporter arrived in front of the bank. An employee exited the vehicle to enter the premises, but an unknown man reportedly intercepted and threatened the employee.

Both the captive employee and the individual responsible for the hostage-taking are currently believed to be located inside the bank’s vault room. A large contingent of police forces is gathered in front of the Volksbank, and the entire central business district has been cordoned off.
