Florian Kohfeldt has extended his contract as the head coach of SV Darmstadt 98, the news the second-division club announced on Thursday. Kohfeldt took the reins in September 2024, guiding the team through 67 official matches since his arrival.
Paul Fernie, the sporting management director, praised the working relationship. Fernie highlighted that since his appointment, Kohfeldt has established a “clear game idea” and fostered the development of many players. Expressing his satisfaction with the extension, Fernie remained optimistic, stating that the overall process with the coach was far from complete.
Kohfeldt, in turn, expressed deep satisfaction with his time at the club and emphasized the club’s progress, noting the team’s development was particularly important to him. He praised the support received from Fernie and the club’s board, maintaining an optimistic outlook about continuing to contribute his strengths. Although the Lilien currently sit in fifth place in the league, they have recently had to abandon their promotion bid.
