A derby between teams in the Turkish second league (TFF 1. League) has been suspended after the away team’s goalkeeper was attacked by a fan with a corner kick flag.
The match between Izmir rivals Goztepe and Altay descended into chaos after just 25 minutes when three fans, including two children, were injured during fights in the stands.
Altaym’s goalkeeper, Ozan Evrim Ozenc, left his area to control the situation, after ambulances were called to transport injured fans to Goztepe Gursel Aksel Stadyumu.
At that moment, a fan had entered from the other side of the pitch and hit the goalkeeper from behind with the corner flag.
The footage was shot by cameras, while the fan hit Ozenci more than once, who was not expecting him.
Immediately, teammates and staff reacted to neutralize the attacker, while the goalkeeper is said to have been taken to the hospital due to the wound and bleeding.
