The German export economy has shown a slight improvement in sentiment. The Ifo exporter expectations rose in April to +0.1 points, recovering significantly from the -0.7 points recorded in March. Reflecting this mixed outlook, Klaus Wohlrabe, head of the Ifo surveys, noted that the current situation is characterized by stagnation, as the high degree of geopolitical uncertainty continues to impact planning.
While expectations for the automotive industry dipped slightly compared to previous periods, the forecast remains generally optimistic. Similar positive trends were noted in the electronics sector and among furniture manufacturers. Furthermore, producers of food and beverages saw a noticeable lift in their expectations.
However, the outlook is still challenging for many energy-intensive industries, where expectations are pointing toward declining export volumes.
