In an exciting duel of the 2. Bundesliga, SV Darmstadt 98 and SV 07 Elversberg ended in a 3-3 draw.
The home team took an early lead in the 14th minute, thanks to a corner kick goal by Patric Pfeiffer. Just a minute later, Fraser Hornby doubled Darmstadt’s advantage to 2-0 after intercepting an inaccurate pass from Zimmerschied and sending the ball into the net.
However, Elversberg refused to be discouraged and clawed their way back into the game. Tom Zimmerschied reduced the gap to 2-1 in the 26th minute, before Maximilian Rohr leveled the score with a distance shot in the 34th minute. Heading into halftime, Elversberg completely turned the momentum as Lukas Petkov faked a free-kick past the wall, scoring in the 45th minute plus two.
The second half remained open and fiercely contested. Darmstadt finally managed to equalize in the 51st minute through Fraser Hornby, who scored from close range following a combination play with Lidberg.
Both sides maintained chances for a winning goal in the final minutes, but ultimately, the point-sharing draw prevailed. In the 89th minute, Elversberg’s goalkeeper, Kristof, made a crucial save, deflecting a late shot from Akiyama away from the post and preventing a potential late deficit.
This result places Elversberg in fourth position and keeps them actively competing in the promotion race, while Darmstadt remains directly behind them in fifth place but has now lost ground, trailing by five points.
