In the Saturday evening fixture of the 31st round of the Bundesliga, TSG Hoffenheim defeated Hamburger SV with a score of 2-1.
The guests from Kraichgau initially struck in the 19th minute when Fisnik Asllani scored, capitalizing on a precise cross from Coufal from a short range. HSV managed to equalize in the 34th minute after Robert Glatzel converted a penalty kick, which was awarded after he was tripped inside the box by Kabak. However, just before halftime, Tim Lemperle restored Hoffenheim’s lead by digging an initial deflection over the goal line.
The second half remained fiercely contested, though neither team could find further scoring opportunities. HSV desperately pushed for an equalizer, but the Hoffenheim defense proved solid.
With this victory, Hoffenheim secures crucial points in its fight for international berths, climbing up to fourth place. Meanwhile, HSV continues its precarious struggle for survival, remaining in 14th place. They are only five points away from the relegation zone, which is currently occupied by local rivals St. Pauli.
