The Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has arrived in Pakistan for talks, a location also expected to host a U.S. delegation led by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner over the weekend. However, as of Saturday noon, there were no official plans established for direct negotiations between the United States and Iran in Islamabad. Araghchi’s engagements began with meetings with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, and Army Chief Asim Munir. He is reportedly scheduled to travel next to Oman and Russia. The U.S. previously announced that Vice President JD Vance is prepared to participate in talks in Pakistan if deemed necessary. President Donald Trump stated that Iran might make an offer, but he remains unsure of the specifics or the ultimate direction of the discussions taking place in the country.
Meanwhile, the fighting between the Israeli military and Hezbollah continues to escalate. Both sides are accusing each other of violating a recently extended ceasefire. In response, the Israeli military issued renewed warnings to residents in South Lebanon, advising them to stay away from areas south of a clearly marked line.
Separately, Iran carried out the execution of a man who had participated in the nationwide protests held in January. He was charged with allegedly working for Israeli intelligence.
