President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he intends to extend the ceasefire in Iran. According to Trump’s personal platform, he stated that the truce would remain in place until the Iranian regime submits a proposal and the discussions are concluded by some means.
The US President explained that, given the government’s “serious division”-which he noted was not unexpected-and following requests from Field Marshal Asim Munir and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, they had been asked to suspend US attacks on Iran until its leaders and representatives could present a unified proposal. He confirmed that the US military had been instructed to continue the blockade while remaining fully ready and operationally capable in all other aspects.
Trump had initially declared the ceasefire for two weeks, commencing on April 8th. Based on Pakistani information, this extension meant the ceasefire would end on Wednesday at 1:50 AM Central European Time.
