Marco Rose Joins AFC Bournemouth as New Head Coach

Marco Rose has been appointed the new head coach for English Premier League side AFC Bournemouth for the upcoming season. The club confirmed the signing of the 49-year-old German coach on Monday. Rose has signed a three-year contract, which will commence after the conclusion of the 2025/26 season. His coaching career includes extensive experience in top European football, having previously coached clubs such as Red Bull Salzburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig.

The appointment follows the news that Bournemouth’s current manager, Andoni Iraola, will not be extending his contract with the South English club. Bournemouth currently occupies the eighth spot in the Premier League and still has a chance at qualifying for European competitions, as they are level on points with sixth-placed FC Chelsea.

This marks Rose’s return to coaching abroad after a seven-year absence. Most recently, he was with RB Leipzig until March of last year, where his contract was set to run until the end of June. As of July 1st, he will be officially free agent, meaning no transfer fee will be due. Furthermore, in recent months, there were rumors suggesting a potential move to Eintracht Frankfurt.
