Investigators have found traces of explosives at the site of the damaged Nord Stream pipeline, confirming that sabotage had taken place, a Swedish prosecutor said on Friday.
According to reports, it is a serious diversion and explosives were found in some items.
“During the on-scene investigations in the Baltic Sea, an extensive investigation was carried out and the area carefully analyzed. Analyzes that have now been carried out show traces of explosives in some objects found. Advanced analysis can bring more reliable conclusions about the incident,” the statement said.
Earlier this month, the Nord Stream AG investigation yielded similar results. According to the preliminary results of the inspection, artificial craters, three to five meters deep, have been found at the bottom of the sea, at a distance of about 248 meters from each other.
“The part of the pipe between the craters has been completely destroyed, the distribution radius of the pipe fragments is at least 250 meters,” the statement said.
We recall that on September 26, explosions occurred simultaneously in two Russian gas pipelines for the export of gas to Europe – Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2.
The operator of Nord Stream announced that the emergency situation in the gas pipelines is unprecedented and that it is impossible to estimate the repair time. The General Prosecutor’s Office of Russia initiated proceedings for an act of international terrorism after the damage to the Nord Stream.
Russia has accused Britain of coordinating the attack on the Nord Stream gas pipelines. In addition, they state that former British Prime Minister Liz Truss sent a message to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken saying it was “over” after the explosion.
