Deutsche Bahn Pledges 20 Billion Euros for Station Overhauls by 2030

By 2030, Deutsche Bahn plans to dedicate four billion euros annually to renovating older train stations. According to Evelyn Palla, the CEO of Deutsche Bahn, there is a significant need for modernization, stating in Saturday editions of Funke-Mediengruppe newspapers that investments will exceed 20 billion euros over the next five years. The railway company reports plans to modernize over 1,000 stations this year alone. Furthermore, a fundamental renovation of 710 train stations is scheduled across Germany by 2030, with 130 of these slated for renovation by 2026. The primary focus of these efforts will be on enhancing the appearance of the main station buildings, supplemented by an additional 50 million euros dedicated to improving safety and cleanliness at the stations.
