During a rampage at a school in Turkey on Wednesday, at least nine people died and 13 were injured. Furthermore, three individuals are reportedly in critical condition. The incident took place in the large city of Kahramanmaras, located in the southern part of Anatolia. The Turkish Interior Minister, Mustafa Ciftci, provided details about the event that afternoon. According to reports, a fourteen-year-old eighth-grade student entered two classrooms equipped with weapons, which he had brought from home, and opened fire indiscriminately. The nine fatalities allegedly include eight students and one teacher. Various Turkish media reports differ on the outcome for the shooter; some suggest he may also be deceased, while other reports indicate that he was apprehended and “handed over to the police”.
