Siemtje Möller, the SPD parliamentary deputy faction vice chair in the Bundestag, advocates for increased support for Ukraine while also reigniting a debate regarding Taurus missile deliveries. Speaking to the news portal Politico, Möller stated, “Everything has been said about Taurus”. Concerning the Ukraine contact group, she emphasized the urgent need for greater support, saying, “Overall, more support is needed”. However, Möller also warned that the ongoing war risks being overshadowed by escalating tensions in the Middle East. She noted that discussions have increasingly focused “almost exclusively” on the conflict involving Iran, posing a danger that the focus on the war in Ukraine could be lost. Furthermore, Möller addressed the changing role of the United States, observing that the U.S. has “completely withdrawn from support” with military aid now being organized primarily through European financing. She concluded by expressing hope that the military support for Ukraine “will remain”.
