Driving Instructor Association Backs Regular Speed Traps For Safer Roads

As the supposed “Speed Camera Marathon” commences, the German Association of Driving Instructors (BVF) is advocating for the continuation of speed enforcement measures. During an interview with the “Rheinische Post” Kurt Bartels, the BVF’s deputy chairman, stated that traffic safety requires checks just as much as it requires quality training. According to Bartels, this enforcement is particularly necessary at known accident hotspots and in dangerous areas, such as near schools. He added that regular monitoring at these precise locations will help increase public acceptance of reduced speed limits. Furthermore, he stressed that in dangerous circumstances, a difference of even ten kilometers per hour can be crucial. This “Speedweek” campaign is an initiative organized by the European traffic police network, “Roadpol”.
