Röttgen Calls US Blockade of Strait of Hormuz Long Overdue

CDU foreign policy expert Norbert Röttgen believes that the announced blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by the US Navy, proposed by US President Donald Trump, is overdue. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” on Monday, Röttgen stated that it is essential for the United States and nearly the rest of the world that the Iranian regime does not retain control over the Strait of Hormuz. He added that it is time for the US to cut off the regime’s access to the strait and its vital revenues from it. According to Röttgen, Iranian oil is primarily exported to China, providing China with a strong motivation to advocate for the free passage through the Strait of Hormuz as well.
