SPD foreign policy politician Ralf Stegner sharply criticized the US government’s approach to Iran. Speaking to the “Rheinische Post” on Monday, he stated that the US President, Donald Trump, is maintaining a misleading stance regarding the Iran conflict. According to Stegner, the sequence of announcements, threats, ultimatums, insults, and now a proposed sea blockade in the Strait of Hormuz is doing more than just causing fear in the region. He argued that this approach is unsettling the entire international community, causing stock market turmoil, and fails to reveal a critical piece of information: the objective, the strategy, or the manner and timing of an end to the war. Stegner concluded by adding that the resulting chaos is taking on increasingly dangerous forms.
