The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) is supporting Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Katherina Reiche (CDU), amidst the current debate concerning the federal government’s reform agenda. Hildegard Müller, President of the VDA, stated to “Bild am Sonntag” that Minister Reiche is correct in arguing that growth forms the foundation of their social market economy and that structural restructuring is necessary to achieve this, without placing further burdens on the federal budget. Müller further commented that proposals such as advancing the reduction of corporate tax, the pragmatic energy policy, and honest communication with citizens-namely, that working more and longer will become the reality-are therefore logical and necessary. Germany requires significant reform across all sectors. She emphasized that small steps are insufficient; instead, the nation needs a major breakthrough, a rethinking, and above all, the courage to implement changes, which is the only way to secure growth, prosperity, and jobs.
