Bayern Dominates St Pauli Secures Bundesliga Record Victory

FC Bayern München achieved a commanding 5-0 victory over FC St. Pauli at the Millerntor-Stadion on Saturday evening. Early in the first half, Jamal Musiala opened the scoring in the 9th minute with a header following a cross from Konrad Laimer, setting a new Bundesliga scoring record for the 1971/72 season. Leon Goretzka added a second goal in the 53rd minute, making it 2-0. This goal was notable because it marked the club’s 102nd seasonal goal, scored by him volleying an inadvertent extension from Lars Ritzka after a free kick. Only a minute later, Michael Olise increased the lead to 3-0 with a precisely placed shot from 18 yards out.

Nicolas Jackson capitalized on an error by Joel Chima Fujita in the 65th minute, finishing to make it 4-0 after receiving a pass from Jamal Musiala. Raphael Guerreiro sealed the victory in the 89th minute; he was unchallenged in the box and managed to beat Vasilj in a one-on-one situation. St. Pauli struggled significantly against the offensive pressure applied by Bayern and was forced into a defensive posture for large stretches of the match.

While the home side attempted to limit the damage through player substitutions and periodic attacks, the Munich team maintained overall control of the game. Despite efforts, such as a long-range shot from Connor Metcalfe, St. Pauli could not generate any serious threats. Conversely, Bayern demonstrated superiority across all areas of the team and kept the ball circulating confidently.

This win allows Bayern Munich to extend its lead at the top of the league table, meanwhile, St. Pauli remains embroiled in relegation battles. Head coach Vincent Kompany expressed satisfaction with his team’s strong performance, noting that they impressively proved their class despite numerous squad changes.
