Ryanair Cancels Flights Amid High Kerosene Prices Threatening Summer Travel

Ryanair management has expressed concern regarding soaring kerosene prices and has stated that they cannot rule out flight cancellations this summer. Speaking to “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” (Saturday editions), manager Marcel Pouchain Meyer indicated that the airline is closely monitoring the situation as the main travel season approaches. While the company has managed to secure 80 percent of the necessary fuel until the end of March 2027 through fixed-price hedging, the manager warned that the remaining 20 percent represents an ongoing uncertainty, which could necessitate short-term price increases. Adding to the concern, kerosene shortages have already been observed at several airports in Italy. Consequently, Pouchain Meyer urged that the situation must be monitored closely and advised travelers to purchase tickets well in advance-ideally before the potential problems significantly worsen in June or July.
