Trump Extends Hormuz Threat Deadline Against Iran Increasing Tensions

US President Donald Trump has apparently extended his deadline for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz concerning Iran by one day. In a post on his online platform, Truth Social, Trump simply stated the time “Tuesday, 8 PM Eastern Time” without providing additional comments. He later confirmed to US media that his statement referred to this ultimatum. Previously, the US President had warned Tehran of massive attacks on civilian infrastructure, such as power plants and bridges, if the strait did not reopen.

Speaking to the Fox News television channel, Trump stated that he would “blow everything up and take over the oil” if an agreement could not be reached. However, he expressed confidence that a resolution could be found before the deadline expired, given that negotiations were currently ongoing. On the other hand, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that Trump’s actions could plunge the United States into “hell” and set the entire region ablaze.
