According to U.S. President Donald Trump, Iran has asked the United States for a cease‑fire. In a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump said the “president of the new regime in Iran” had transmitted the request. While he did not name the Iranian official, Trump described him as “less radicalised and smarter than his predecessors”.

Trump added that the United States would consider a cease‑fire only once the Strait of Hormuz was open and safe. Until then, he said the U.S. would “bomb the Iranians back into the Stone Age”.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that he has been in talks with the Iranian regime in recent days, claims that Tehran has consistently denied.
