Fuel prices in Germany rose again just before the new station regulation came into force. According to an ADAC representative speaking to dts Nachrichtenagentur on Wednesday, the nationwide average price for a litre of diesel was €2.316 on Tuesday, an increase of 2.8 cents compared to the previous week. The price for Super E10 climbed by 3.3 cents, settling at an average of €2.107 per litre. Both fuel types had seen notable price hikes last week amid tensions linked to the Iran war.
Starting today, Germany will adopt the Austrian model: petrol stations may raise prices only once per day, at 12 p.m. However, price reductions remain permissible at any time. The effect of this new rule on overall fuel costs remains to be seen.
