The foreign ministers of the G7 states have reaffirmed their support for partner countries in the Middle East in the face of Iran’s ongoing attacks. In a joint statement released Monday, they condemned what they described as the “relentless attacks” of the Iranian regime on civilians and civilian infrastructure-including energy facilities-in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Iraq.
The G7 called for an immediate halt to all Iranian operations and stressed the importance of securing maritime routes, especially the Strait of Hormuz. They also pledged readiness to take measures to support the global energy supply, such as the release of inventories that IEA members approved on March 11.
Additionally, the ministers denounced Iran’s attacks in Iraq on diplomatic sites and energy infrastructure, reaffirming their commitment to the security and sovereignty of the affected states. The joint statement does not mention U.S. or Israeli attacks on Iran.
