Iran has refuted President Donald Trump’s claim that Tehran and Washington are currently engaged in talks aimed at ending the war in the Middle East.
The Iranian news agency Fars reported on Monday that the Tehrani regime is neither involved in direct negotiations with the United States nor in discussions through intermediaries. This contradicts Trump’s earlier assertion of “deep, detailed and constructive conversations” that were supposed to continue throughout the week.
Meanwhile, Iranian state television said that Trump had withdrawn from a threat to bomb Iranian power plants unless the Strait of Hormuz was reopened by Monday evening. The decision, the broadcast claimed, was prompted by Iran’s counter‑threat to strike energy infrastructure across the Middle East.
