Air Canada Regional Jet Collides With Fire Truck at LaGuardia Early Monday Morning

On the early Monday morning at LaGuardia Airport in New York, an Air Canada regional jet-a CRJ‑900 coming from Montreal-collided with an airport‑supply vehicle while on the apron. Authorities said the aircraft struck the vehicle at a speed of about 38 km h⁻¹ (roughly 24 mph).

Initially, no official statement about injuries or deaths was released, but media reports indicated that both the pilot and co‑pilot were killed. More than a dozen passengers on board were reported to have suffered injuries of varying severity.

The incident prompted the FAA to impose a ground stop at LaGuardia, halting all arrivals and departures. Incoming flights were either diverted to other airports or returned to their departure points. According to the authorities, the jet had collided with a fire truck that was on its way to another incident.
