Thousands Rally at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate to Combat Sexually Motivated Digital Violence

In Berlin on Sunday, thousands of people gathered at the Brandenburg Gate for a protest against sexualised digital violence. Protesters carried signs with slogans such as “My body belongs to me – even digitally” “Only yes means yes” and “AI won’t make our bodies yours”. The event was organised by the newly formed alliance called the Feminist Fight Club, whose motto reads “Against sexualised digital violence – solidarity with all victims”. The group aims to draw attention to systemic shortcomings and legal gaps surrounding both digital and analog sexualised violence in Germany. Organizers had expected about 500 participants, but the turnout eventually reached around 2,500 or more.

The demonstrators were also encouraged by host Collien Fernandes, whose own personal experience has recently brought greater public focus to the issue. Although Fernandes herself did not attend the rally, she promoted the event on Instagram, writing that sexual, physical, and psychological violence are far more widespread than people realise and that they “take place in the middle of our society”. She noted that many perpetrators hide “well behind the often‑quoted wall of silence” and urged people to “go to the streets and loudly tear those walls down”.
