The 27th Bundesliga round saw FC Bayern Munich confirm their dominance with a comfortable 4-0 win over 1. FC Union Berlin. Bayern commanded the match from the very start, leaving the capital side with little chance to mount a comeback.
In the first half the Bavarians laid the foundation for their triumph. Michael Olise capped a long service from Leon Goretzka with a powerful header in the 43rd minute, sending the ball into the upper corner. Shortly before the whistle of halftime, Serge Gnabry extended the lead to 2-0 after Joshua Kimmich’s cross allowed the Union goalkeeper to miss the clearance; Gnabry wasted the opportunity, slotting a close‑range finish.
The second half saw the Bayern men continue their offensive onslaught. Harry Kane – who had been creating chances in the first half – struck in the 49th minute, sealing the 3-0 scoreline. A quick double‑pass involving Konrad Laimer positioned him at a 15‑meter distance, from which Kane shot accurately into the right‑hand corner. Union Berlin struggled to generate substantial threats and their sporadic counterattacks failed to create any chances.
Gnabry added his second goal of the day in the 67th minute. After a blocked shot from Olise landed at his feet, he fired the ball flat into the lower corner, finalising the scoreline.
With the victory Bayern solidified their league top spot and demonstrated their readiness for upcoming fixtures in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
Union Berlin, after a meaningful away win in Freiburg, were left to regroup. Despite a solid defensive effort in the first half, the capital’s side could not withstand Bayern’s pressure. Coach Steffen Baumgart will now aim to pick up points in forthcoming matches to widen the gap to the relegation zone.
Other Saturday afternoon results were:
Heidenheim 3 – 3 Leverkusen
Wolfsburg 0 – 1 Bremen
Köln 3 – 3 Mönchengladbach
