Oklo CEO Jacob DeWitte Pitches New Reactor Tech for Germany

Jacob DeWitte, the CEO of the U.S. nuclear company Oklo, says he wants to introduce his company’s innovative reactor technology to Germany. “I would love to find a way to either bring part of this technology into the industrial ecosystem or forge partnerships, or even directly roll it out” he told “Handelsblatt”.

At the moment, however, he sees no realistic opportunity. “Germany must let logic triumph over fear” DeWitte noted, criticizing the country’s “very regressive” energy policy. He pointed out that, unlike many neighbours, Germany has adopted an ideological stance and now imports nuclear power from abroad.

Oklo is developing Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) that generate electricity from nuclear waste. In the United States, the company plans to first power artificial‑intelligence data centers. DeWitte recently secured a partnership with Meta to supply such facilities. The Trump administration has been supportive of Oklo and its technology.

Nevertheless, the reactors have not yet received regulatory approval, and experts remain skeptical about whether they can operate safely and reliably.
