SV Elversberg won 3‑1 against Arminia Bielefeld on matchday 27 of the 2nd Bundesliga. The visitors from Ostwestfalen offered almost no resistance. The Saarlanders created several chances in the first half but only managed a 1‑0 lead at halftime, thanks to a goal by Lukas Petkov in the 38th minute. After the interval, Petkov was again decisive, adding a beautiful solo strike to extend the advantage to 2‑0. Earlier, five minutes after the restart, Arminia had been reduced to ten men when Marvin Mehlem received a red card for a rough challenge in midfield. Amara Condé scored for Bielefeld, but Arminia answered with a goal from Christopher Lannert.
In a separate match, SC Paderborn defeated Dynamo Dresden 2‑1. The Saxons began confidently, with Vincent Vermeij earning an early lead. Then, on a later substitution, Steffen Tigges turned the game by scoring twice, securing the win for Paderborn.
Later in the afternoon, 1. FC Nürnberg comfortably beat 1. FC Kaiserslautern 3‑0. Luka Lochoshvili netted a brace, and Adam Markhiev struck from a free kick. Kaiserslautern failed to score.
With these victories, both Elversberg and Paderborn level on points atop the table. The current leaders, Schalke and Darmstadt, will face each other later that day, so the winner of that clash will finish the matchday in first place.
